Up to 80 MB per file • Supports AutoCAD R14 to 2018

How it works

  1. 1. Upload your DWG

Drag your DWG file onto the dropzone or click to browse. Files up to 80 MB are supported. We never look at file contents — only convert and serve the result.

  2. 2. We convert it server-side

Your DWG is processed on our server using LibreDWG, the open-source standard for AutoCAD format conversion. Most files are converted in under 10 seconds.

  3. 3. Download your DXF

Click the download button to save the DXF file. Files are automatically deleted from our servers after one hour. No account, no email, no friction.

Why use this DWG to DXF converter?

100% free, forever

No subscription, no watermarks, no hidden costs. Truly free DWG to DXF freeware — no trial, no signup, no credit card.

Runs in your browser

No software to install, no plugins. Works on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS — anything with a modern browser.

Supports all AutoCAD versions

From AutoCAD R14 (1997) through AutoCAD 2018. We use LibreDWG, the same engine many open-source CAD tools rely on.

Up to 80 MB per file

Big site plans, complex 3D drawings — no problem. Most online DWG converters cap at 5–10 MB. We do not.

GDPR-friendly & secure

Files are stored on EU servers and automatically deleted after one hour. We never share your files and never train AI on them.

Fast and reliable

Most conversions finish in under 10 seconds. A queue protects the server so your file is processed fairly even at peak times.

When do I need a DWG to DXF converter?

  • Open AutoCAD drawings in BricsCAD, LibreCAD, QCAD, DraftSight, or NanoCAD
  • Share CAD files with collaborators who do not own AutoCAD
  • Import CAD geometry into 3D software, GIS, or laser cutters that only accept DXF
  • Read old DWG files when newer AutoCAD versions cannot open them
  • Prepare DWG files for archival or for exchange with public authorities
  • Strip proprietary AutoCAD objects so files open cleanly in any CAD program

FAQ

Drop your .dwg file onto the converter above (or click to browse), wait a few seconds while the server converts it, then download the resulting .dxf file. No installation, no signup.

Yes. The converter is 100% free with no signup, no watermarks, no daily limit on filesize, and no hidden Pro tier. We built it as a free tool to help the CAD community.

All DWG versions from AutoCAD R14 (1997) through AutoCAD 2018 are supported. We use LibreDWG 0.13, which covers every common DWG variant. AutoCAD 2025+ files saved in legacy format also work.

Up to 80 MB per file — much higher than most online converters, which cap at 5–10 MB. If your file is larger, save it in a smaller AutoCAD version (e.g. 2010) or strip unused layers.

Files are automatically deleted from our servers exactly 1 hour after upload. We never share, sell, or train AI on your files.

Yes. The server runs in the EU, all uploads are encrypted in transit (HTTPS), files are isolated per request, and everything is deleted within an hour. We do not require any personal data.

No — conversion happens on our server because LibreDWG would be too heavy to ship to the browser. If you need an offline DWG to DXF converter, install LibreCAD or use AutoCAD itself.

DWG is the proprietary AutoCAD format, optimized for size and speed but tied to Autodesk. DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) is an open ASCII format that almost every CAD program can read. DXF is the de facto standard for CAD interchange.

Not yet — we only support DWG → DXF for now. Converting DXF to DWG is on the roadmap; subscribe to the newsletter to be notified.
